More often than that, however, I hear, “if I just lose x-pounds, I’ll be happy”...but the question is, do you think you will really be happy?

If you look back on a time when, maybe you were at a size that you thought would make you “happy”, were you? Were you enjoying your life? Or was it consumed by food, shame and guilt?
✨
Or maybe you’ve never been a size you were happy with but are striving for one now. Have you ever thought about what you are giving up to achieve this?

We are sold this idea every single day by #dietculture that, if we can JUST lose weight, happiness is on the other side of that door. But it never is.
✨
Trying to achieve the perfect body will not dissolve you of all your others problems in life but I promise that letting go of dieting is sure as hell better than the shame that you probably feel when you do diet.

What happiness can you feel now, in the body you have right at this moment?
  • I’m a serious french fry lover, and this morning, after our waiter asked fries or salad, I automatically went with fries. But after second thought, something fresh sounded really good. So I went with salad after all because I know I’ll be able to eat fries again (I did steal a few from my friend) and it wasn’t because I felt like I should have a salad to compensate for anything.

I get asked a lot, ‘“if just let myself eat whatever I want, won’t I just eat ‘unhealthy’ stuff all the time?” The thing about unconditional permission is that when we know we can have all foods, we can make choices out of self care, rather than punishment, and even crave foods that we once put into a box of “I should get this” vs “I shouldn’t get that”

One thing I love about intuitive eating is that it’s flexible, not another set of rigid rules like a diet. So sometimes I’ll get fries and that’s okay. Sometimes I’ll get salad and that’s okay. Sometimes I’ll do both! 🍟🥗#intuitiveeating
